Description
BUMROD A6F 7'6" #3 3pc 1Tip (with Aluminum Case)
A highly controllable bamboo fly rod for small streams, built with a unique modified hexagonal hollow construction.
Overview
This handcrafted bamboo rod is made by Japanese rod builder Hidenobu Kotake from Mie, Japan.
The A6 (Advanced Six) series features a medium-fast tip action, delivering quick recovery and excellent line control. The rod’s modified hexagonal construction enhances line tracking, allowing precise fly placement even in tight, technical water.
Designed for dry fly fishing, it excels in a smooth, efficient upstream fishing rhythm.
To improve responsiveness, the tip is built without a cap-over ferrule. Guides are wrapped directly onto the blank, reducing tip weight and increasing sensitivity.
Model: A6F
The A6F features a crisp and responsive medium-fast tip action, ideal for anglers who prefer a quicker tempo.
Built with Tonkin bamboo, this rod combines a firm, slightly swelled butt section with a lightweight, responsive tip. This balance provides excellent stability, control, and smooth energy transfer.
It is particularly well-suited for covering small streams efficiently, allowing anglers to fish at a steady pace with precision.
The 7'6" #3 configuration offers an excellent balance of reach, control, and maneuverability—making it a versatile choice for a wide range of stream conditions.
Modified Hexagonal Hollow Construction
Originally, BUMROD focused on standard hexagonal hollow-built rods. However, fully hollow structures can sometimes lack strength under heavy load.
Instead of adding internal ribs, this design incorporates a more refined solution.
By adjusting the width and thickness of each bamboo strip, a triangular internal structure is formed within the hexagonal blank—resulting in the modified hexagonal hollow construction.
This structure improves resistance to crushing while also enhancing line stability and directional accuracy, making it easier to control fly placement.
Since its introduction in 2007, this design has been continuously refined through precise tuning of strip ratios and hollow thickness.
