Description
BUMROD A6L 7'6" #3 3pc 1Tip (with Aluminum Case)
A lightweight and supple bamboo fly rod for small stream fishing, featuring a unique modified hexagonal hollow construction.
Product Description
This handcrafted bamboo rod is built by Japanese rod maker Hidenobu Kotake from Mie Prefecture.
The A6 (Advanced Six) series features a medium-fast tip action, offering quick recovery and excellent line control. The rod’s modified hexagonal construction enhances line tracking, allowing precise fly placement into tight targets.
Designed for dry fly fishing, this rod excels in rhythmic upstream presentations, making it ideal for anglers who enjoy covering water efficiently.
To improve responsiveness, the tip section is constructed without a cap-over ferrule. Instead, guides are wrapped directly onto the blank, reducing tip weight and enhancing sensitivity.
Model: A6L
The A6L is a light and responsive rod with a medium-slow semi-parabolic action.
This model uses madake (Japanese timber bamboo), known for its balance of suppleness and crisp recovery. While the rod bends deeply and smoothly, it retains excellent casting performance, achieving a refined balance between casting feel and fishing performance.
The 7'6" #3 configuration is highly versatile for small stream environments, offering both reach and control in tight conditions.
Modified Hexagonal Hollow Construction
BUMROD originally focused on standard hexagonal hollow-built rods. However, fully hollow structures can sometimes lack strength under heavy load, leading to deformation.
Instead of using conventional reinforcement ribs, this design introduces a more refined solution.
By adjusting the width and thickness of each bamboo strip, a triangular internal structure is formed within the hexagonal blank. This results in the unique modified hexagonal hollow construction.
This structure improves resistance to crushing while also enhancing line stability and directional accuracy, making it easier to control fly placement.
Since its introduction in 2007, the design has been continuously refined through adjustments to strip ratios and hollow thickness, resulting in the current advanced form.
